Hi my name is Stephanie Watrous. This is my 14th year teaching and I am excited to be back at Challenger! I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Psychology in 1996. In 2006 I went back to school and received my Masters in Education in 2008 from the University of Phoenix. I taught for 11 years at St. Joseph School in Issaquah before coming to Challenger three years ago. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade and am excited about returning to 2nd grade.
I have been married to my husband, Ken, for 25 years. We have two children, Mason who is 21, and Ali who is 19. Mason is a Junior at the University of Portland and Ali is a Sophomore at Central Washington University. I love spending time with my family, going on bike rides, hikes or relaxing on our boat in the summers.
I believe the classroom should be a safe place in which children are able to receive a positive and successful learning experience. This type of environment will allow students to develop skills, achieve their goals and develop a love of education and knowledge.
This school year is certainly going to be different for all of us. We have all experienced challenges and successes of remote teaching and learning.
I look forward to working with you to provide a wonderful learning experience for your child. It is important that you know my door is always open. If there is anything you feel I should know about your son or daughter or if you have any questions or concerns please contact me and I would be happy to talk.
Mrs. Stephanie Watrous
